Andy Black

CBRE

Andy joined the American Cancer Society due to its powerful mission and the tangible impact it has on the lives of those affected by cancer. His journey with ACS began when he partnered with them to raise money for his participation in the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. Witnessing firsthand the dedication and support ACS provides, Andy felt compelled to get involved locally. With family and friends who have been deeply impacted by cancer, it is fulfilling for him to contribute to the work ACS does and see the positive changes it brings to individuals and communities.

Andy is currently an Associate at CBRE, where he has been spearheading investment sales, underwriting, and leasing initiatives. Focusing specifically on East Bay industrial properties, Andy is actively involved in all aspects of the investment process, from initial deal assessment to execution and post-transaction management. His responsibilities include modeling prospective deals, overseeing lease execution, developing client relationships, and orchestrating successful transactions.

Andy graduated from the University of Southern California and in his free time enjoys following Bay Area sports, playing golf, supporting USC football, participating in triathlons, playing recreational basketball, hiking, and skiing.

Carolyn Hong

Abbvie Biotherapeutics

Carolyn is inspired by the American Cancer Society’s compelling mission and strong dedication to helping those impacted by cancer. Having worked in cancer drug development at AbbVie for nearly three years, Carolyn decided to join the ABOA as it was a great opportunity to make an impact in her community beyond her daily work. Since joining, Carolyn has thoroughly enjoyed getting to work with like-minded individuals in her community both in furthering ACS’s mission and in witnessing the direct impact ACS has on the SF community.

Carolyn is currently a Scientist at AbbVie Biotherapeutics where she works on drug product development for several different types of cancer therapies. Her work focuses on bringing cancer drugs from all stages of the process from early development to first-in-human clinical trials, and Carolyn is responsible for designing and performing experiments, authoring reports/papers, coordinating with clinical sites, and working with other functions within AbbVie.

Carolyn graduated with a B.S in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. In her free time, Carolyn enjoys cooking, baking, and reading, and can often be found volunteering at the California Academy of Sciences!
