Meet our Leaders of Hope

Leaders of Hope are a group of San Francisco Bay Area community leaders who have been selected to be one of the faces of the 2025 Fork Cancer Event. These Leaders of Hope serve as an extension of the American Cancer Society by raising funds and awareness. They are well-connected, philanthropic, and want to influence their community by making an impact to help end cancer as we know it, for everyone. Each person takes a leadership role in the American Cancer Society’s mission by committing to raise a minimum of $2,500 for Fork Cancer San Francisco. Does this sound like you? Please fill out this form and/or contact Nathan To at [email protected] or 408-572-9373.

Francesca Nagle

Last fall, my dad passed away from a 10-month battle with glioblastoma, a rare and terminal brain cancer, and our family’s journey inspired me to try and help make a difference. I am passionate about raising funds to support individuals and families currently battling cancer and to see these efforts help alleviate even the smallest burden during such an incredibly difficult journey. I also hope to bring awareness to rare cancers that often go unnoticed but urgently need attention and resources. I am honored to be a part of such an impactful organization and to help offer hope to those in need.

Aubrey and Alex Wood

Hey! We are Aubrey and Alex. Or as the internet knows us, Aubs and Wood. We’re so proud to be part of Fork Cancer this year as Leaders of Hope, a cause that’s really personal for us.

In 2019, Alex’s mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. She went through 12 rounds of chemo, a double mastectomy, multiple surgeries — the whole fight. This August marks five years cancer-free, and we’re endlessly grateful. Her strength is why we’re here.

We’re raising money to support the American Cancer Society’s work. We’re doing this for the survivors, the fighters, and the ones we’ve lost. Every dollar makes a difference. And we’re excited (and honestly kind of emotional) to be part of something bigger than ourselves.

Thanks for being part of it with us.

Through her work, she hopes to help drive progress in research, increase access to resources, and strengthen the support systems that patients and families rely on. Yasmine is proud to stand alongside others who share the vision of a future where cancer no longer defines or limits lives.”

Sophia Camille Mahachek

Last summer, my mom was diagnosed with Lymphoma. In a time of overhwlemeing fear and sadness, the doctors instilled hope in us once more. The medicine, genuine care and treatmemts that the doctors gave my mom felt like a type of miracle. It is a true honor to be teaming with the American Cancer Society to fund research that will serve as the same type of miracle to others.

As a professional yoga and fitness instructor, I am thrilled to be hosting donation classes to fundraise for the American Cancer Society.
